Saturday, 30 November, is International Computer Security Day, and is aimed at raising awareness around staying safe when using technology to prevent cyberattacks and the loss of data. We spoke to Nedbank fraud expert, Lucas Venter, for tips on how to stay safe and to find out why Nedbank is passionate about educating South Africans on cybersecurity.

How to protect yourself against fraud
According to Lucas, the biggest risk South Africans face regarding computer security is complacency and not being fraud-aware. “Fraudsters use many methods to defraud you and they tend to create a sense of urgency to elicit information from you,” Lucas advises.
