Arts Affinity

The Nedbank Arts Affinity, in partnership with the Arts & Culture Trust (ACT), has supported the development of arts over the past 28 years. Since the ACT started in 1994, Nedbank, together with its Arts Affinity clients, has donated more than R25 million to the trust for over 800 arts, culture and heritage development projects in South Africa, at no cost to clients.

You can support the development of arts in South Africa by simply banking and investing with Nedbank. When you open and fund a Nedbank savings or investment account, we'll donate to the ACT on your behalf, at no cost to you. The more you save or invest, the more we donate.

You can make a difference in the lives of talented young artists. Through the Nedbank Arts Affinity, you'll support various projects funded through the ACT, which focus on the following:

ACT Nyoloha Programme

The ACT Nyoloha Programme is a career-accelerator programme that includes:

• Scholarships
  The Scholarships programme aims to provide opportunities for school leavers to pursue a tertiary qualification in the creative and performing arts. The programme brings together talented, ambitious young people from across the country and introduces them to the world of professional arts through an intensive week of training, talks and performances, culminating in a showcase and exhibition. Working with professional teams gives the participants a valuable experience, as does the opportunity to work with other future artists from different backgrounds. The Scholarships programme focuses on grade 11 and 12 learners and youth up to the age of 25 who have university exemption and want to study towards a degree in the arts at a South African university.
• Research grants
  Research grants are aimed at postgraduate researchers who want to pursue additional research possibilities in the field of arts development, arts economic impacts, arts cohesion for sustainable participation in the arts economy, arts role in micro and macro economies, and arts and culture practice as a tool for community development

ACT Thuthukisani Programme

The ACT Thuthukisani Programme addresses the lack of capacity and opportunity for small-to- medium businesses and artists to develop new projects, with mentorship, training and investment towards a sustained participation in the creative economy. The structure of the programme includes:
• master classes;
• professional and peer-to-peer mentoring; and
• monetary investment towards selective projects from the programme.
